Lying about what, exactly? This is an extremely saturated program with a limited number of openings. It's not a surprise they reached the max within a matter of minutes. Unfortunate, but not a shock by any stretch.

You will be competing against everyone else who has access to a keyboard at the moment the program reopens in January. Type fast. Wait for explicit instructions nearer to time.

It is no longer a lottery it is now first in basis hence a lot of anger here that the slots went so quickly, 27000 in minutes and they quote that 100000 attempts were made so still way oversubscribed. Even with 27000 expression of interests only 20000 slots are available so assume they are expecting either duplicate applications if that were even possible or people not qualifying.

Unfortunately it is what it is and there is no really fair process whether that was the lottery or first in there are simply too many applicants and probably always will be even the quota was doubled or trebled. You just have look at the number of new immigrants coming every year who at some point might want to sponsor their parents and unfortunately there are only a limited level of resources to take on an aged population even with current residents let alone adding to that number significantly.
