Hi, the embassy is requesting additional documents from my wife (she is my sponsor) for MY permanent residency. they need phone bill, bank account , motgage, property, but all of these things are in my name not hers and we sent them n at the beginning.
they are also requesting a new medical and permanent residency fee, which of course are no problem.
has anyone ever had a simaler problem were they couldn't provide documents??
WILL MY RESIDENCY BE DENIED BECAUSE OF THIS??
we are terrified. the residency has already been in process for a year and they say i was approved last month, so why more requests?
thank-you to anyone that can help
Bolivar

If you have already provided these documents, you or your representative should be able to do so again. Yes, we've been asked to provide documentation that had been previously provided.

Hopefully someone who succeeded can better advise. For now, stay calm. Freaking out doesn't help anyone but hurts you both.

no they want them in my wife's name which we don``t have.
if certain docs are not supplied to them, do they deny residency for that?

Just wondering why you haven't added her onto such things yet?
I mean if have been waiting for a year you could add her onto such things.
Why not do that now and then send it to them?

They just want to see you have combined your affairs and have established yourselves as a married couple. And even if you are the sole provider for paying for this stuff, it won't matter just as long as they see the both of your names together.

You should be good to go after that. I mean it probably does look better the longer you two have been added onto something but just as long as they see that you have something I think that should be good enough.

Best of luck!

There isn't a single bank account or credit card with your wife's name on it???? That would seem strange to me too, if I were an IO... I think you should add her to your chequing account and get some cheques with both your names on them. Why wouldn't you? I think your wife would be nuts not to insist on that... What country are you living in together?

If her address is the same as yours and the mortgage, phone, etc. are all for your common, matrimonial home, then maybe you could just send copies of that stuff again, even though it's in your name, plus her ID showing her address and some sample letter mail she has, like an official government document or some other official correspondance which she received at that address so sort of prove she lives there, and a short explanation of that maybe? That might help.

Why would you doubt that they could refuse your visa for missing information that they feel is important? If they ask for the docs it's because they need the docs... Maybe your original file was a little thin on some other kind of proof and they are trying to understand something? Regardless, you better do something about it!

Good luck,
TLH

I'm a bit confused here too. Are you two living together, is that right? And married? I'm surprised they need all that info for spouses (my husband and I just got married, I'm not even listed as "married" in the tax system yet!!! We have NOTHING in our name besides a joint checking acct I never use becuase I have my own in the US). Is this only a requirement when you've been living together overseas?
