I applied with an old passport. Can I receive visa in a new passport instead?

I applied for a Temporary Resident Visa (multiple), my application was approved, and I received the Original Passport Request from the IRCC.

Now, the passport that I used in my application expires next year.

Since the visa cannot be issued beyond the passport expiration date, it means the visa will also expire with the passport.

Therefore, instead of the old passport, I'd like to send to the IRCC a new passport to receive in it the visa that would expire in 5 years, not in 1 year.

Can I receive the visa in a new passport, not in the one in the application?

If so, how do I do it?

You just send the new passport when you submit to the local visa application centre. Take your old passport or copy with you just in case. (If you're submitting by courier or post, include a copy of the tombstone page with all the data, and a short note that you are submitting new passport).

This is a trivial change and happens all the time, nothing weird about it.

Just wanted to add to it. My friend sent in both her passports through courier and they gave her the TRV in her new passport last year. She checked with IRCC through phone before sending it.
