Hi Everyone,

;) I am 12weeks pregnant , my COPR document has arrived already. However i wasn't pregnant when I mad the application. I am planning to land in canada on the end of December. I will be like 5months when landing. Do I need to call the CIC to tell i am pregnant? In my COPR, they said I will need a new application if i land after the baby is born. Please I am scared help please.

Thanks

No - you don't need to notify CIC and don't need a new CORP. As long as you land before the child is born no changes are necessary.

Indeed, as long as you arrive before the baby is born, the baby will be a Canadian citizen when it is born here. Make sure you double check your health insurance needs for the baby, as having a baby in a hospital is very expensive without insurance. You may need some temporary insurance if you are not going to a province that gives you insurance immediately.

You should be fine for medical coverage too. Depending on what province you intend to land, you could have to wait up to 3 months before you can get provincal coverage. If you are planning to move to Alberta, you would be on coverage on first day of applying. In any case, regardless of where you land, at worst, you had to wait 3 months before qualifing, you still got another 2 months to go before delivery, assuming 5 months pregnant at the time of landing.
