Hello,

i am a Canadian citizen and my spouse is in Pakistan and didn't apply for the sponsorship yet. I am pregnant and am due in the end of july. What would be better? if he applies for a visit visa before applying for sponsorship or after? And what are the chances of getting the a TRV in our situation. We are both working at the moment. Please help
Thanks,
Sahar

You guys are in the same predicament as we are. I have recently applied for TRV on feb 20th. We haven't gone for sponsorship/PR yet. But your husband has a good chance of getting TRV. Just make sure you have everything they ask from a TRV applicant

I was in your situation in 2010 and we were denied... an immigration officer told me that they will NEVER approve this because they believe that the visitor will never leave Canada when he supposed to as his ties will be too strong in Canada.... best to have a friend or someone else try to invite him...

An issue should be brought up with Immigration Canada all spouses of Canadian citizen should be granted a "spousal" visa I don't know why they dont have this class- UK has spousal visa and so does many other countries. Well like I mentioned I have applied for TRV on feb 20th I will keep you all posted as to what happens with my application. Though mind you, it will not be my first time in Canada I am a graduate from a Canadian university and have spent 5 years on a student visa I could have applied for citizenship but had to return back because of family problems...lets see what happens with my TRV application.

Because they refuse on average 18% of all spousal applications for all points of service, 48% refusal of spouse Accra. 36% Hong Kong, 45% Singapore. So no way that all spouses are going to be issued a visa. Why do you think that Minister is tightening up Spousal sponsorships, 5 years before a sponsored spouse can sponsor, 2 year provisional spousal visas.

They should tighten up where they smell a rat and all that but genuine cases should not be denied simple as that. Canada's aim should be to bring families together not separate them because of distances especially where there are children involved they should process those cases quickly be it TRV or spousal immigration.

Thats my 2 cent.
