I AM IN CANADA AND PR WILL EXPIRE MID APRIL

Dear Mr & Mrs

i am in canada right now and i have a family emergency i have to go back home for a week or ten days. i havent fulfilled my PR obligations which is 2 years out of the five years. I only stayed in canada for 8 months so far i will be leaving canada next week and i will return back march 15 2012 before my PR expires ( 32 days before my PR expires). My question is upon my return from my family emergency situation will i be facing a problem with the portal of entry officer and by that i mean ( is he/she capable of issuing me a loss of statues = losing my pr card). i know he doesn't have the right to prohibit me from entering canada but does he has right to revoke my PR status. Thanx a lot in advance and i am looking forward for all your replies ASAP.

If they believe that you don't meet the residency requirements, they can report you. They will still let you enter but they could start the procedure for revoking your PR. If that happens, you will have to prove that either they are wrong and you do meet the requirements or you had H&C grounds for not being able to.

If the immigration officers ask you about this when you enter, say that you had a family emergency. It might help.

thanx a lot Leon for replying but my question to u " why would he suspect such a thing if he ask me when did u leave i will tell him i left like a week ago and even i could show him my itinerary tickets which will prove i was in canada and i just left for a family situation.

Oh, sometimes immigration seems to know a bit more than we tell them. You'll just have to wait and see. Maybe they will not say anything.
