Why cant you have the baby in Carribean? Are you guys common law or married atleast? or the Canadian decided to explore places where the sun dont shine while vacationing in the Carribean. Either way, its not that expensive only $10,000 to $15,000 for c section.

I can't see any benefit to you or the baby by coming to Canada to give birth. The child will possibly be Canadian by descent anyway and having a Canadian child will give you no immigration rights. You will still be only a visitor unless the father is able to sponsor you.

If you are visa exempt, you can simply come and visit. If not, you would need to apply for a visit visa, proving that you have funds for your visit as well as you will not overstay in Canada.

However, having a baby in Canada will give the baby citizenship but will not give you any rights. If you get married to a Canadian or you live with one in a common law partnership for at least 12 months, he can sponsor you for PR (permanent residency). Otherwise, you'd have to leave when your visit visa is up.

Most Canadians can pass citizenship to their children who are born overseas so if you are on good terms with the father, you can have the baby in your home country and he can apply for the baby's citizenship.

I dont plan on living in canada but i want to secure a good future for my child. I was thinking that msybe it would b cheaper to have the child there than for him to sponsor his child

I would budget at least $7,000.

Ok so you planning anchor baby. Do you know who the father is or is he interested in the future of the baby? Cause if not then that would say a lot about carribean girls and canadian guys

Applying for a certificate of citizenship for the child costs $75. If you are not married, they may ask for a DNA test. I don't know what that costs.

The birth of a child if you have it in a hospital will cost a minimum of 3000 I think but most likely a bit more. A C-section, even more than that. 7-10,000 maybe.

If you have the baby in a home setting or with a midwife, it would be cheaper but complications can always arise.

The child will not have a better future being born in Canada than being sponsored by the father but if you suspect that the father may not want to sponsor the child, you would of course secure citizenship for your baby if it were born in Canada.

I know his father we r together but not married. He told me that i should consider coming there to have the baby because it would be easier than sponsoring. I just want some advise so i can make my decision. I want to make the best decision for my child so i have to consider the process and the cost

If the father wants you to stay in Canada, then he will have to sponsor you no matter where you have the baby. Having the baby in Canada won't allow you to stay in Canada. Also, in order for the father to sponsor you, the two of you will either have to be married or common law (common law means that you have lived together for a minimum of one full year).

No its just for the child. Not me. I will go back to my country after.

Your child will be a citizen regardless of whether the child is born in Canada or outside of Canada.

Thanks for all the advice. I really appreciate it. But i think i still want t go to canada to have the baby and then go home after i get his birth certificate and passport. I just need to find the right hospital and i am willing to pay for it
