hello all,

I am an American citizen and a Canadian PR living in Ontario. My husband is a Canadian citizen born in another country. I would like to give birth in NY but am not sure as to whether the child is granted PR or citizenship to Canada right away? Or do I have to give birth in. Canada?

Give birth in Canada. It will save you a lot of time and money. The child will not gain citizenship by descent if the father gained citizenship by descent. There is a single generation limit.
Of course, if the father is Canadian through naturalisation, it doesn't really matter.. You can go to either country.

The only problem is my OBGYN is in NY as I do not like any of the obstetricians here, do you think it’s poaaible to give birth here in Canada but the records go to the doctor in the states?

It is like what Zardoz suggested, if the child's father earned Canadian Citizenship through naturalization, then give the birth in US, the child will have dual citizenship (Canada & US). If the father's Canadian Citizenship was granted by descent, and you are a US Citizen who had satisfied the followings: 1. The child has to be born in Wedlock, 2. the US citizen parent had been physically presented in US for Five years, in which at least TWO of those years after age of 14, then give the birth in Canada, your child will have dual citizenship.

If you don't really care the dual citizenship at birth, then just pick one as you wish.
