Hi,

I applied for Express Entry. I have 483 points with 1 year of Canadian Work Experience. My PGWP expires in 1 week. I do not have my ITA yet as my job bank registration was pending. I am working in a skilled work category. Do I need a LMIA to extend my work permit. If not, can I straight away apply for Work Permit Extension. I can get a offer of employment from my current employer asap.

Yes - you need an approved LMIA to extend your work permit. An offer of employment isn't enough.

Why did you wait so long? PGWP cant be extended. I dont think LMIA will work that fast either, unless you get put onto implied status for it right away? Perhaps you will get an invite to apply tonight.

Yes you do need LMIA to extend your work permit. Also if you submit a incomplete work permit application meaning no LMIA and continued working after your PGWP expires, it will be considered illegal working.

You should apply to change your status to visitor as soon as possible. Make sure the application reaches CIC before your PGWP expires. You'll obviously need to stop working as soon as your PGWP expires - however you'll be able to remain in Canada as a visitor.
