I am a accepted refugee claimant and i want to know to get SIN. Pls help

Hi everyone, i really need your help and advice, i am recently an accepted refugee claimant in Quebec Montreal, i have received my Quebec selection certificate also i have received my health insurance card. Now my Question is , i applied some months ago for a work permit and i have still not received anything at the moment and i went to service Canada to ask if i could request for social insurance number but i was told i have to wait until i have a confirmation of residence which i am not aware of and i have already sent my application for permanent residence which i know it will take some time before i will hear anything. I got a job opportunity but because i dont have social insurance number i cant start working so can someone please advice if there is a way to request for a social insurance number in my situation, i would be very grateful. Thank you.

You will need your work permit to apply for the social insurance number
going by the cic website http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/temp.asp these are the approximate wait times.

I check the processing time almost everyday and my work permit application was sent more than 3 months ago, i was told by a lady at where i went to apply for my medical card i dont need a work permit to obtain a SIN and thant i only need my Acceptance letter and My Quebec Selection Certificate. I am so confused and i dont know if i made a mistake with my work permit i sent , Can i re apply for the work permit again? Thank you.

The lady at the medical place was wrong; you do need your work permit before you can get a SIN. You can't apply for a work permit again while the current one is still processing. You can send them an email to inquire about the status of your application.

Thank You for your advice, i guess i have to wait until i hear something from cic about my work permit.
