Husband is Illegal immigrant in UK. Home country passport will expire soon.

This is the initial stage of my husband's immigration journey to Canada. I am Canadian and sponsored my husband. Husband is an illegal immigrant in UK. Indian passport is valid only for 4 months. After AOR1 we received an email that CPC has requested atleast 1 year validity on the passport. Called Indian Consulate who said only 6 months valid passport will be issued. Please advise what to do?

Renew his passport for six months, inform CPC of the new passport and see if that will be accepted. If not, it sounds like he'll need to return to India to complete the process.
