How will CIC contact us?

Hi!

Two weeks ago, my husband and I sent out the application to get me my permanent residence. He is Canadian living in Canada and he will be sponsoring me. I live in Malta, Europe.

My question is, how will CIC contact him and me? I saw somewhere that we will need a MYcic account or GCkey for them to message us on.

So far we're constantly checking for any updates that will occur on this website: eservices.cic.gc.ca
in which we sign in by an email address and proceed with receipt information.

Is that correct?

I'm terrified that we may have missed something and that we'll never know the status of our application. How many week should pass before I started getting worried that something is wrong?

I hope I can find some answers on this forum. I just registered today, but have been following some questions quite frequently, and the help received is great.

1. You are a little too anxious. Mississauga takes 63 days before your sponsor will be notified if his sponsorship is approved/refused.
2. The application would then be sent to Rome, where the processing time for 80% of spousal applications is 10 months. Once your spouse receives his approval/refusal letter, then you can check ecas.

In otherwords, way too early to check!

Yes, I am way too anxious right now. I've been in a long distance relationship with my husband since 2011. I simply can't wait to finally move and be with him.

I'm also extremely worried because I'm not sure whether our application has even been received/arrived at the right place. We made the terrible mistake of not having it tracked/insured.
