How to travel to Canada during outland application

Hello,

I sent my application(outland) last month and now the sponsor part is already being processed.
I am planning to go to Canada and stay there with my wife until I get the PR, so probably a few months.

What is the best way to do this?

The last times that I have been to Canada (stays of 1-2 weeks), at the airport immigration, I am asked for a return ticket, purpose of my trip with details and even details on how I met the people I am visiting. So my experience has not been the straightforward process of smiling and getting the stamp in the passport like in many other countries.

Would it be ok to say the truth? That my return ticket is in 3-6 months and that I will just stay at my wife's place until I get the PR?
Or do I need some other compelling explanation?

I have a European passport and as far as I know, in theory, I can stay up to 6 months.

Any suggestions or experience on this situation? Any help is welcomed.

Thanks!

If you have a return ticket, that's great proof.

You must convince the officer that you are just visiting, not moving to Canada. You must also convince them that you will be in status the whole time you are in Canada. I believe you're right, that you are granted 6 months of visitor status.

Assure the officer that you will be leaving before the 6 months are up. Proof of connections to your country like a return ticket, proof of property owned or family living there are all a good idea. As long as you are clear that you understand you're a visitor and will be leaving the country, it should be okay.

Hi

CBSA is a lot more lenient when you already have a sponsorship app in process; it shows them that you are following the rules. Carry a copy of the sponsor approval letter and proof of funds; you should have no issues.
