I am a software engineer. I know I have to write IELTS but I am not getting time to prepare.

Please share how prepared for it and also scored well.

I work 12 hours a day.

Please don't post any advertisements, I can't afford an institute neither I have time adhere the timings.

everything is available online. practice as many sample tests as you can, check your score (as per band) and make sure you time yourself. when you're confident enough, you can give the test.

We all know this much. It is like someone is asking "how to learn swimming?" and other person replies "just avoid drowning" ...

How you divided/planned 24 hours, where in 12 hours are fixed for the job?

You work 12 hours a day on weekends too?

No, but it never went unoccupied. Secondly, even if I have time, I don't know where to start. I study 1 hour today, 1 hour tomorrow and then after 1 week I will confident, that's not happening.
Someone who has gone through it can help me out.

stick to a schedule. practice 1 listening, reading and writing test everyday. if you are confident of writing, just read through to the rules. Its important to read the band criteria. it will help u focus on the techniques better. goodluck!

I work 8 to 6, and then have a family to look after as soon as I reach home (I am married, FYI, so the usual cooking, cleaning, groceries etc.). Which means I had a max. of 1 hour per day to practice. It took me 2 weeks to get the hang of the whole format of IELTS because I hardly had time to go through online resources in certain work-heavy weeks. I practiced the most on weekends, and chose workdays for timed practice (20 mins for Reading, etc). Used online resources like IELTSLIZ.com as well. It took me 2 months to prepare & I was able to achieve Band 8 (8.5,8.5,7,7) in my first try. Never sat again because I don't have the time to.

My husband works the same hours, but has an attention span of 5 seconds. He still managed to get an overall band of 7.

Just make sure you practice every day and give yourself 2-3 months of prep time.

Good to luck to both of you. This is the correct answer. I'll try same timetable.
