Hi all,

I think this question have been answered many times but I couldn't find one yet because the forum is huge...anyway here is my situation:

we have landed in Toronto in June, and went back to home country for a while, still waiting for our PR cards, my wife is pregnant and if GOD willing her due date is in December,now...if I go back to Canada for good in September and my wife who still in our home country couldn't deliver the baby in Canada,

1- what are the requirements for me to sponsor our newborn baby from inside Canada , and if i still be unemployed and going to college will that complicate my application to sponsor the newborn baby....

2- how long does it take to get a decision.

3- can I sponsor our newborn baby from our home country by applying to the Canadian embassy or its a must to for one of the parents to be in Canada.

thanks all.

I'll help you with question #3 - you can't sponsor the baby from outside of Canada. One of the parents must be in Canada.

As with sponsoring a spouse, there is no minimum income to sponsor a child. However, you must be able to show CIC that you CAN support your family without having to go on welfare. This can include showing your savings, your wife's savings, letters from your families pledging financial support etc.

There have been many students and unemployed people who have been successful in sponsoring partners and children, usually by having complete financial support from their families.

hi everyone!

i just gave birth last month. we are going to add our baby as an additional dependent. CIC sent an email to my husband that we are going to comply these:

1. Processing fees in the amount of $150.00 that are paid in a form as outlined on the CIC webiste.
2. An original and newly completed and signed " Application to Sponsor, Sponsorship Agreement and Undertaking", (IMM1344) form which lists this individual as the principal applicant on Page?.
3. An amended " Generic Form for Canada", (IMMM008) which lists this individual as a dependent of ****
4. For dependents who are 18 yrs of age and older they must provide an original, signed and completed (IMM5669) form and (IMM5406) form.

My question is that do I need to fill up again the IMM008 form with add dependent? and about the IMM1344 form should my husband need make a new one with the name of our daughter and since shes a baby, is it ok that I'll be the one to sign it? please help.. thank you.
