Hi all,

I need some help in my file presentation after the first study permit refusal I received!

Below are my refusal file details:

>Got admitted to St Clair for Data Analytics for Business- Sept 2022 intake
> 10th in 2012 : 85 %
> 12th in 2014 :70%
> BE in Computer Engineering (Mumbai University) - 2014 to 2018 : CGPA of 7.32 / 10
>Working since 2018 until present : Currently holding a position of Associate Data Analyst
> IELTS 7.5 bands overall ( L:8.5, R: 8, S:7.5, W:7.5)

Documents Uploaded in file:
Resume, Offer Letter, Salary Slips last 6 months, GIC receipt, College 1st year fee receipt, SOP, LOA of St Clair college,IELTS score, Marksheets (10,12 and BE)

PS: Didn't show any proof of funds apart from 1st year college tuition fees and GIC receipt

My concern:

I was planning to defer my course to Jan 23 intake, but St Clair didnt have any seats for the same. They were offering me May 23 seat for same course, but now I have received an offer letter from Conestoga College for Jan 23 intake for the course : Information Technology - Business Analysis.

can someone please let me know :
1. If I need to draft a completely new SOP with respect to Conestoga College or explain the same in the LOA?
2. Should I mention the reason of changing the course and college or no?

If someone can please help me out here, I'll truly be thankful.

Order GCMS notes for reasons for refusal. The refusal would mention why refused.
1. Different programs so different SOP.
2. Depends why you were refused.

So a college program doesn’t show education progression. Also how did you justify the costs of coming to Canada and the higher paying job you will have when you return. Changing to Contestoga doesn’t really change or address your reasons for refusal. Why not a masters program?

I had kind of mentioned everything in the SOP.
Regarding why not masters : That's because with my profile, it was difficult to get an admit in master's program in good university and secondly Master's is too costly compared to a PGDM.

If you “kind of” mentioned everything in your SOP then it must be redone as it is a different school. Changing your program based on reasons for refusals doesn’t address VO concerns. Did you apply to Masters programs and were rejected? All Canadian programs are costly and with a masters you have a better chance and can get TA positions and possible funding opportunities. If just changing colleges, you need to justify education and career progression. What better and higher paying job will you get?

Not having the funds to pay for a masters or not having the grades to get into a masters program aren’t good reasons for seletting a PGD if you are a genuine student. If you are already a data analyst it is going to be very tough to prove that a postgrad college degree is needed and will lead to career progression. A masters degree would be much easier to justify.

I do understand your view points. Thank you so much for sharing your inputs. Really appreciate it!
I'll rethink about this and strengthen my SOP.

Hi, thank you for your response. I agree with your point of view here.
I was under the impression that being an Associate Data analyst and having some prior knowledge in the field, choosing the Data Analytics in Business course will be in a good line of my career progression. Also one more reason of not choosing masters is that we get to learn a lot of theory whereas a PGDM involves hands on/industry experience.
Anyway, 'll rethink about this and try my best to strengthen my SOP this time.
Thank you for your inputs and time. I do appreciate it!
