Hi everyone,
I am about to apply for citizenship next week and have a question about how to minimise my chances of getting RQed. Here is my scenario:
I become eligible for citizenship on Thursday. My current drivers licence expires on Sunday. I have just renewed it and it should arrive in the mail soon. However, I have made a photocopy of the older driver's licence that is about to expire. From what I read on the forums, getting (even renewing) an ID within the three months of application triggers an RQ (I am not sure whether it means an RQ automatically or gives reasons for them to give me an RQ if other things don't match up).
Hence the question, should I apply with the photocopy of my old licence? It will be valid on the day of my application but invalid on the day they receive the package. Alternatively, should I use the renewed ID? To give you other details, I came to Canada as an international student in 2002. Got PR in 2011. In the last four years have been doing MA and am currently working on a PhD degree (and will be sending my educational transcripts to them). Also, have been employed. I have relatively limited travel in the last four years: two two-week trips to Ukraine and two couple-day trips to the US. What do you think are the chances of me getting RQ with a fresh ID? Should I instead use the old one? Or should I simply wait till August 2013 when my IDs become 'older'.
Thanks!
