hello,

I want some info regarding the step after getting your PPR from the New York office. I am waiting for my PPR stage but want information before hand so that im prepared.

I believe it involves crossing the boarder but can that be done if you do NOT have a US visa?

My application is processed in New York and I am around Toronto. Whats the best option for me? What's the nearest exit/entry point for me?
Please share your experiences.

Thanks

You do not have to cross the border to "land", you can land at an office in Canada if you wish.

Oh that's good.. Can you please share more info regarding it? I would prefer doing it within Canada. Any info available online?

Thanks

You call the CIC Call Centre and request an appointment for landing at an inland office. I don't know where that would be for you, possibly Mississauga. There can be a 1-2 month wait for an appointment, tho, make sure the validity of your visa is long enough to wait to do that...

1-2 months just to wait for an appointment seems a very long wait time. Can I do it by crossing the boarder and back in instead? Is it faster? But would I need a US Visa for that?

Obviously I cannot tell you what the actual wait time will be, you have to call CIC.

You don't need a visa to enter the USA to land at the border, it's called flagpoling. When you arrive on the US side, you tell them you are simply there to turn around to "land" in Canada, they will refuse your entrance and send you back to Canada with a letter. There are TONS of posts in this forum from people who have "flagpoled" landed from Toronto, just do a search.

Ok thanks
I found tons of posts discussing the flagpole/landing process.

I however was not able to get timing info for the rainbow bridge port of entry at Buffalo. Are they open for stamping 24/7 or only on certain days within a certain time?

thanks again

they are probably 24/7, but call them or check their website.
