HOW TO INVITE WIFE OF A STUDENT IN CANADA

Hello every one,

My student visa application is approved and i will be moving by end of this month. I married after applying for study permit and now i want to call my wife to Canada after reaching there.

What will be the type of visa for her? I require any invitation letter from university?, etc......

please guide me each and every possibility as i am moving first time to Canada.

Hi Hassan! Congratulations on the study permit approval! To invite your wife over, you have several options and I'll share my knowledge with you.

1. Enroll your wife to study in a community college. This way she has a permit that is her own and the approval rate is going to be much higher. Not to mention she will be able to study and learn something new! However this option indeed cost money, but it's the best option in my humble opinion.

2. Since you have obtained a study permit, you can apply a open work permit for your wife using your study permit. A student's spouse are eligible to apply for a open work permit and the duration (end date) of the permit will be the same as your study permit.

3. Apply to come to Canada as a visitor. As far as I know this permit only allow her to stay in Canada for 6 months.

My wife had already studied M.A Economics (16year education). I dont know she would be accepted to a graduate course. Secondly if she applies for open work permit then what documents she need ?

In addition to this my father is supporting me for entire masters degree. Can my dad also sponsor her because i have to show 4000$ for her one year expenses as per CIC web?

She can certainly apply for an OWP to accompany you to Canada. However it's impossible for any of us to say if she will be approved.
