Dear friends,

After arriving at Pearson International Airport, which is the best taxi/ limo service that can take me, my family and my quite heavy luggage ( 7 pieces @ 23 kg each plus couple of hand carries) to my place in Mississauga. Is there any way I can make the booking before arrival. How much should be the approx fare. Should I go by meter or there are flat rates for respective areas. If booked now, do they come to the luggage belt to help us carry the luggage upto the car / van. Sometimes I fear even a van won't be able to accommodate all of us with our luggage, what if such a scenario arises ! Please suggest

Most vans can carry 7 pieces of luggage. And they park right outside the exit door. If you cant carry luggage from carousel then there are porters with large dollys to help but you have to pay them. If your luggage does not fit in one van take two.

is there any way I can settle all this before my arrival. I fear arranging it upon arrival may sometime prove bothersome due to sudden rush. Further I think we can't approach directly to the cabs or vans, instead need to pay at some counter first and the proceed, I am talking about air port taco services. How much Can a porter charge for carrying my luggage upto the van ! Isn't it bit risky moving with luggage in two vans !

Its really not as bad as it sounds. It is super easy. As a matter of fact its really hard to make any mistakes. You have to try really really hard to make things go wrong. Everything is in english and its completly stupid proof. Nothing needs to be rushed and everything is done in an organized systematic order. Its not Dhaka railway station.

oookk, so no need of any prior bookings ! Actually I didn't hVe a good experience of hiring cabs from airports upon arrival, taking about riyadh, Kualalumpur and Lahore, believe me it's a big hassle once you are with family. So just based upon my prior experience thought of arranging it in advance. Anyways thanks for your input.

as suggested, don't sweat it too much. People are very friendly and cooperative. even porter will suggest few things if you are unsure, so chill out.

Alright, but I will be more relaxed during my journey if things are arranged prior to arrival, it's just how I feel :)

By the way, Hasni, which neighborhood will you be moving to? What are the rents there?

it's near Dixie Rathburn cross, rents are more or less same across whole with minor fluctuation. A two bed apartment in a new building will definitely cost more than an older building. Similarly rent for a two bed apartment will be higher than a two bed room basement. Also the rents for some units which are ideally located in terms of convenience would be comparatively on higher side. But generally speaking, Mississauga rents are slightly higher than neighbouring Brampton, Markham, Etobicoke, Vaugh and to some extent North York.

Hasni brother, don’t worry. There is no need to make ay bookings. I came few days back and had six pieces of 20-23 kg each. I took two trolleys from the baggage claim area and then proceed to the exit. As I stood in taxi queue just outside the airport main exit gate most taxis coming for pickup were regular Crown Victoria types. The supervisor told me to wait for a bigger van type so that my luggage can be accommodated. In no time the van type taxi came. The driver was an Indian Punjabi who helped me with putting the luggage in the boot. He charged CAD54 flat (charged based on area zones) for my accommodation near Square One Mississauga.
