What is the easiest and cheapest way to get copies of my husbands birth certificate in Ontario? I need 4 copies of it, 2 for our daughters citizenship applications, and other for my PR application. I just called the office in Kingston where he lives and they said you can't get multiple copies, but can order certified copies online for $35 each?? That just seems crazy to me as we can get them here in NY just by going to our gov't center for $10 each. Has anyone in Ontario gotten birth certificate copies before and how did you do it?

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding but if he's got the original you can just photocopy it yourself? Its only a copy you need for both PR and citizenship as far as I remember. If not just order one and photocopy that for additional copies.

Agreed. You can photocopy it. You have to order it online through service Ontario just like they stated, if you don't have an original to photocopy.

read the checklists - if it doesn't say it has to be a true or certified copy, photocopying something yourself is fine. i made copies of my own ontario documents and my husband & stepkid's american ones for their application and didn't have a problem.

Okay great, he does have his original, but wasn't sure if they needed to be certified copies. It doesn't specify that when it talks about it, so I'm hoping copying it myself will work. :-)
