Hey everyone,
Just before the holidays my wife and I received her CoPR, (Confirmation of permanent residence) and we were both thrilled to finally be at this point. Included with the CoPR was information on how to go get the document signed, how to make changes etc etc. We do want to make a change to the CoPR because it includes my wife's maiden name, which at the time was also on her passport when we completed the paperwork before the CoPR. She currently has her new passport with her married name which we recently picked up at the US embassy where we reside in Ottawa, Ontario. The only information related to making corrections talks specifically of the permanent visa. Can we not make a change to the CoPR now, to avoid any further changes which we would otherwise have to make immediately when the permanent visa arrives?
Getting help as we navigated this journey has been very frustrating as options to talk to actual individuals is few and far between. Would it maybe be easier to talk to an immigration officer where we have to sign her documents anyways? I feel like we would be turned around because the CoPR isn't updated like the passport is.
Any help would be appreciated, maybe someone has gone through a similar situation or heard of something like this.
Thanks,
Brandon
