Hi All,

I am here in Canada on work permit from last 6 months. My wife and kid (8 months old) joined me on Visitor Visa 3 months back from India.
Can I get tax rebate for supporting my dependents? Based upon my research on internet, I might get tax rebate but I have to file income tax return for my dependents as well. They don't have any income though. They are not eligible for Social Insurance Number (SIN). I will have to obtain "Individual Tax Number" (for both of them) by filling up "T1261 Application for a Canada Revenue Agency Individual Tax Number for Non-Residents" form.

I am not sure if the above information will actually going to help for obtaining tax benefits.

Please guide me if anyone knows the process to claim tax rebate for supporting dependents.

Any pointers in this regard will be much appreciated.

Thanks.
