how to change fix work permit to open work permit

hi there
i want to ask that
if there is any way to change the fix work permit to an open work permit ?
can an employer apply for his employee to change his permit status ?

for example i am working for mr. x and now he dosnt have more work for me.so i have to find other work now.and as i have fix work permit with mr.x i cant find other work easily. so can mr.x apply for me to change my permit to open? so that i can find work easily.

or if you have any other way or opinion...... i want to change my work permit status to open ,,,,,,,plz help me out.

No - an employer cannot apply to change his employees closed work permit status to an open work permit. It doesn't matter if this employer no longer has work for you. If you want to work for a different employer, that employer will have to obtain a new approved LMO and then you will have to apply for a new closed work permit.

Open work permits are only granted in a few specific cases. For example, if your Canadian spouse has sponsored you inland and you have received first stage approval - then you would qualify for an open work permit.

but after how many years can i apPly for P.R. in canada? can i apply myself or my employer has to apply for my PR.?

You can apply through Canadian Experience Class after you have completed two years of full time work in Canada in a skilled occupation:

Or you can see if you qualify to apply through the Federal Skilled Worker program:

To qualify, you must either have a job offer in Canada or your occupation must appear on the following list:

Or you can see if you qualify for any of the provincial application streams:
