Hi All,

I came here as student and completed my graduation in May 2015 and started working full time from May 2015 for NOC of skilled category B. Also, my working hours meet the requirement of CIC.

According to above dates and working hours, i will complete my 2 years work experience in May 2016.

However, I took 3 months leave from Jan 2016 till March 2016 and traveled outside of Canada.

My question is :

1) Can I consider or calculate 3 months of leave towards my work experience or not ?

Thanks

Hi Ankita,
Even if you ignore the 3 months of leave, you have more than the minimum 12 months of required experience as you stated in your query.
Don't worry you will be fine leaving out those 3 months.
All the best with your application.

LOL, no, of course not. You will have to deduct your leave from your work experience.

Note that "reasonable" periods of paid vacation are considered as part of your employment. "Reasonable" may be two weeks or whatever is the norm for your occupation.

Thanks Srinivas and Jes.

In that case , while creating application for EE, do i mention the work experience with breaks as below :

1) May 2015 till Dec 2015
2) Apr 2016 till date.

Instead of May 2015 till date.

That would probably be the easiest way to do it.

Good day!

I also have a question on how to out my work experience in CIC.
I work in the same company but I got promoted 3 times.
example:
Feb 1, 2012 - May 14, 2014
May 15, 2014 - May 1, 2015
*there's a gap between May1 to May4 cause May 2 and 3 is SatSun
May 4, 2015 – Jan 15, 2017
Jan 23 - present (new company)

Question is, do I add all work experience continuously from Feb 1, 2012 to present so that makes it 5+ yrs?

well, since you posted in the CEC forum, I will just say that there is no requirement for Canadian work experience to be continuous.

If the "promotions" meant a change of job duties/ responsibilities, then you should list them as separate positions. Given the consecutive dates, it would be considered continuous anyway. You can get one letter of reference that covers all the positions.
