Hi all!

I am an Australian currently living/working in Canada on a 2-year IEC WH and my permit will expire late May next year. As my first permit stared in 2014, I am apparently eligible to obtain this once more. This is very important to me as my life is now in Canada (including my partner).

What is the best way to apply for this second permit so that I can continue to work in Canada with as little disruption as possible? (ie. so that there is an easy transition between the old and new work permit so I can remain in Canada and be able to continue working legally).

Any advice would be much appreciated as this seems to be a difficult topic to get information for!

Thank you!
Steve

There's only one way for you to apply for another IEC.

When the program reopens next year, you will need to apply from just like you did the first time around.

IECs can't be extended so there is no extension process. You apply again from scratch.

It's up to you to try to make the transition between your new and old IEC seamless. You'll need to have your new IEC approved before your current IEC expires if you want to keep working without a break.
