Hi,
I have filed my Study Permit Application under SDS Category in 31st May 2023 for September 2023 intake. My biometric date is 5th June. I have been accepted to a 2-year program at a Canadian college that has one term as optional COOP. While I have mentioned the COOP in my SOP, I, unfortunately, have made the wrong selection when filling out the Study Permit Application form where I was asked if work was required to complete the program.

I want to know what my options are at this point. I have visited the Canada Govt’s site here on COOP placement, but found it a bit confusing. One suggestion says that if my application is already in process, then I may be able to raise a request through some web form, but the webform doesn’t have a request category relating to addition of COOP request.

Is there anyone who can help me with what to do next. My application was filed online from India, if that helps.

Submit a webform with new LOA that states you need a CO-OP to complete your program. Follow webform instructions and pick “student.”

Thanks for your prompt response. I need a little clarity on a few more things
  1. The LOA that I received from the college and submitted along with my application already mentions the requirement for COOP. Do I still need a new LOA?
  2. To the question "Is your application being processed by an office OUTSIDE Canada?", I am choosing "No" since it's an online process and not paper based. Is that the correct choice for me?
  3. Assuming the choice above is correct, I am not able to see "student" in the dropdown of "Type of application/enquiry". Link to screenshot. Should it instead be "Replacement Documents, Amendments to documents and Verification of Status documents?"
  4. Will this request cause additional delays in processing my application?

Thanks for your time

1. Use current LOA.
2. Are you outside Canada? If not in Canada, you answer YES.
3. Student should be there.
4. Possibly. Or study permit is approved and it is processed once you arrive in Canada.
