Hi, I want to ask if I can apply for a open permit and PR when I reached my 23 months as live in caregiver. I am too early to ask this but Im confused. I arrived here june9 of this year, my work permit is valid for 2 years, my employer did not deduct any from my salary for 1 month. My question is can I apply for open permit and PR during my 23 months as live in caregiver? And my contract with my employer is only 2 years, I dont want to renew my contract anymore with them even if they want me to. My another question is If i will be able to file my application during my 23 months, can i look for another job or employer while my OP and PR are on process? Thank you...

To qualify to apply for PR, you either need 24 months of full time work OR 3900 hours of work with a minimum of 22 months of employment. So the earliest you can apply is 22 months (assuming you have worked enough hours).

Tnx Scylla :) I have one more question, My work permit will expire on June 2015, can I still apply for OWP and PR on May 2015 or should I renew my work permit first? Thanks again.
