Hi everyone;

I am a metallurgical engineer from Turkey. I graduated from Istanbul Technical University and started a masters program there this year.

I just joined the forum and checked out what's here. It's a great forum. But it's so huge that I can not find what I am looking for using the forum search tool. I get 40 or something pages of results which is no better than manually browsing the threads page by page. So I wanted to start a thread of my own.

I am planning to apply for Canada and Quebec immigration. I checked the Canadian and the Quebecian immigration office websites but those sites confused me even more. I did the immigration test and got 74/100 so on and so forth (I guess that's a toy really). I figured out from those sites that first I should fill out 5 forms and a checklist and mail them to CIC office in Nova Scotia. Then they will contact me when/if they evaluate my application. After that the procedure will be carried out by the local visa office.

That's all I understood from the websites. I still have many question though some are very stupid unfortunately:)

My questions are:

In the Application for Permanent Residence in Canada form, should I leave the details of family members page blank since I am not married and do not have any children or should I write none n the spaces provided?

When should I mail my application to CIC office? Is there any deadlines or submission intervals?

What additional documents (diplomas, payment documents, language testing results, passport or identity card photocopies etc.) must my application to CIC include?

I would welcome any advice. Thank you in advance.

hi ulrich hart

You shouldn't leave any details blank. Just write down "N/A". You can mail your application to CIO anytime as long as you have completed all the initial forms. Your completed application forms must include a photocopy of your passport's bio-data page and 2 self-addressed mailing labels one in English or French and the second in the official language of your country

No photo needed during initial application. You will need to send 04 copy PP (specific instruction on size provided in CIC guide) photo during your full docs to CHC for you, your spouse and other family members accompanying you
