How much time is given to appear for interview

I applied for immigration around 3.5 years back from my home country and I am still waiting for it. Now I have decided to persue master degree from US but I worry that during the time I am studying for master degree I may get a call for interview and medical. As for the medical I have come to know that it can be done from any DMP in any country but I believe the same is not true for interview. In that case can any body please let me know how much time is given to appear for interview. When interview is called is it called on specific future date or date range is given to the interviewee and in the date range s/he can choose any date. I am asking this because if during the time I am studying in US I may not be able to attend an interview during the semester. Any help/suggestion is appreciated.

I think its usually 60 days from date of letter issuance for Interview request.
