Hi,

I put a webform that I had submitted my application for more than 4 months and I want to know my current status as it's been a month since eligibility started.
They replied to it saying we are performing a background check as every applicant goes through this.

How much time does a background check take? And why is too slow?

This is really individual and it's impossible for us to say how long it will take. As to why it is slow, again, hard to answer without knowing what IRCC is looking at. Sometimes they are trying to validate something in your application based on where you are living now or where you lived previously and depending on the country involved, this can be difficult to do.

Hi DKShu, there is no specific time, as every application are not the same. The two factors that determine background check are the officer handling the application and the application itself. I will suggest that; if it goes passed six month, you should order a GCMS note to ascertain the reason.
