Hello everyone.

I came across the immigration fees and I´m somewhat confused as to how much should I pay. This is my scenario:

I am the Canadian sponsor and I am sponsoring my wife under the family class category.

We have 2 children. One of them is already a canadian citizen and I already submitted the required documentation so the other-one can also receive her citizenship. Currently waiting for the documentation.

What I think I should pay is:

- Sponsorship application (per application) $75
- Principal applicant (I presume that is is my wife and the person that I´m sponsoring) $475
- Right of Permanent Residence Fee $490

There is an additional field which I don´t know if it applies to me or not:
Spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner $550

Could you please help me determine the right fees to pay?

Many thanks in advance to all of you.

What AMJ writes is incorrect. The fees you must pay are $75 as sponsor and $475 for the principal applicant (your wife). You will also have to pay the right of permanent residence fee for your wife, which is a further $490, but you have a choice whether to pay that now or when requested later. CIC recommends that you pay it now to avoid delay in considering your application. I ignored their advice, preferring to leave the money in the bank to gather a paltry sum in interest! I did not notice any delay arising from that. There are no fees payable for your 2 children: since they will both be Canadian citizens they will have a right of entry into Canada as citizens and you will not be sponsoring them. Total fees therefore $1040, not $1400. I am not sure where your reference in red comes from. The advice above is in accordance with the guide IMM 3900.
