Hi,

I've been searching the forum regarding how much translation is required for unofficial documents such as a cell phone bill. I haven't found anything regarding this specifically. I know it might seem like a silly question, but I just don't want to take any chances, possibly if anyone could share their own experiences with this matter?

There's alot of information on the statement, would I need to translate every single thing on the bill that is in another language? I understand the call logs are more important, but I'm wondering if CIC will care if I only translate the important information on a bill and leave out whatever I feel is not important.

Thanks.

Hi,

In my case I didn't even translate the conversations between my husband and I.

Think about how you will feel once your application has been sent with or without the translation. If you think you'll constantly worry about this issue you'll feel like updating with the extra info afterwards, when they will not even update this info on your application than just translate all that is and isn't important on the bill now.

You can also click on this link to see what CIC will update on an application:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=052&top=3

I have also copy/pasted a part of what is on their page below:

How can I update or ask about a CIC application in progress?

If your application is already in progress, use the Client Application Status (CAS) service. This online service allows you to view the status of your immigration and/or citizenship application online.

You can also use this Web form if:

you wish to report important changes regarding your application, such as
births,
deaths,
marriages,
divorces,
adoptions,
changes in address,
changes in employment,
acquisition of a new educational credential or
results of an approved language test;

Note: That is only once an application is in progress. If you do it before they even give you a UCI, from what I have been reading on this forum, I am under the impression that it will almost be impossible for CIC to do it.
