How much money to carry when immigrating to Canada for the first time ??

Hi !! I am immigrating to Canada via FSW2014. I am not sure how much money and in what form to carry ?? I've also received mixed opinions that i must carry 12000 CAD when I immigrate for the first time.. Is it really required ???

Please advise.
