Proof of funding is generally not required under CEC because it is assumed that you're currently employed. If you are unemployed and you declare such on the application, they may question how will you support yourself if you say you have $0. So if you are unemployed at the time of the CEC application it would be best to show some money in the bank to hold you until you find another job. How much you want to show is up to you but the more the better.
