I was reading documents on Ontario's Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream. It says, "Before you can submit your online application, you must pay the application fee of $1,500." However, I was reading online comments on EE and knew that EE costed less than the international student stream which is $1500. Am I reading the wrong thing? Please advise thx!

Separate application, separate application fee. Unfortunately, you are not reading this wrong. It is.... Ontario.

Hi thx a lot for ur reply!!!! I'm just starting to research how to immigrate in Ontario. From my understanding, in order to go through the ee route, i have to go through Ontario's Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream which belongs to oinp. After i got nominated, i will apply to cec for the federal level. First, i want to know if my understanding is correct and second if i have to pay again once im invited to apply for cec. I always heard my friend said ee is cheaper than the employer offer for international students. Is my friend wrong or im wrong. Also i really appreciate ur answer u just made my day! I thought my question is too stupid That ppl don't bother to answer. Thx a lot!

No. You don't need HCP to apply under EE.

Express Entry is a federal program which you can apply to directly. You friend is right in that applying directly to EE is cheaper and faster than OINP employer offer stream.

EE is a point based system meaning whether or not you can receive an invitation is based on how high you CRS score is.
If your score is higher enough and get an invite under CEC, you pay once to the federal government for your CEC application.
If your score isn't high enough but you get an invite from OINP, you can choose to apply for HCP which, if successful, will grant you extra points which would in turn land you an invite from federal government. But in this case you'll need to pay twice, first to OINP for your HCP application, then to federal government for your CEC application.

No questions are stupid. It could be very confusing when you first started researching.

I'd suggest you calculate your CRS first and see where you stand.

Omg!!! Thx a lot for ur detailed explanation. I tried using the point calculator and for my current situation im sitting at 470 to 512 depending on my language test and other variables. From reading ur comments, if i apply to cec, i will still have a chance to get invited by OINP if my points are low. Am I understanding it correct? So the right process should be apply for cec. Then see if points are high enough, not high enough go to OINP and get more points. Right? I really appreciate ur help!!

470 is high enough for a direct invitation at the moment. Recent rounds of invitation were sent to applicants with CRS around 440. You don't need OINP to boost your score at all.

Thx a lot! I wonder if i start directly applying for cec, am i still eligible for OINP? Also, where could I find the up to date info on invitation scores. Thx again for your explanations

As already indicated, that is not correct. You CAN go through the HCP stream if you need the extra points to get an invitation to apply, but it is certainly not mandatory, and you have to submit your EE profile first, anyway, to get an invitation to apply to the OINP/HCP stream. ( Note that OINP has several streams, including "traditional" (non-EE) streams.) Yes, if you went this route, you would have to pay for both applications. But it sounds like your CRS score may be quite good, in which case you wouldn't need the Ontario nomination....
