Hi Everyone,

Curious to know

how many years do we need to be in canada after u get PR ?
Should we have to stay in continous period ( i.e no gap ) ?
If the person is already for 2 years before he gets PR ,(Tempprary work permit) will it help anyway...?
How many years the PR is valid ?
Do we need to renew the same after some years? how many years ?

would be great if any of you answer to my query ?

1. You have to reside in Canada for 2 years in every 5 period after becoming a PR, time before doesn't count. It doesn't have to be continuous.
2. The PR card is valid for 5 years, before it has to be renewed.

Also, it is a rolling 5 year period so it's not like you can say that one 5 year period is not related to the next. It always has to be 2 years or more in Canada in the previous 5 years.

Also, many people think that you can't lose your PR if your PR card is still valid. If you stay away too long, your PR status can be questioned at any time you are entering Canada even though your PR card is still valid.
