Hello all,
Just wondering how many pieces of luggage my wife can bring on the flight to Canada?
Is it true that new immigrants can bring with them or via fright services as many as they can without being taxed by CDN customs?

Thx

She can bring as much as she wants to on the flight. However the airline is going to charge her for any extra bags over the allowance.

Hello,
Let say she only brings the allowable bags on to the flight. And ship the other stuffs via postal service
to Canada, is there a special form she needs to fill out at customs? And is it taxable?

This is fine.

Whether or not is taxable depends on the goods you plan on shipping to yourself.

This not fine. At landing, Dko needs to pre pare and submit a B4 form in order for the shipped goods to be duty exempted. The form can be download from the C B S A website.

More info can be read in the website.

If you really want to get technical - everything needs to be declared on the B4 form prior to landing (what is accompanying you and what is being imported at a later date) in order for the goods to be duty exempted. Why I wrote "whether or not is taxable depends on the goods you plan on shipping to yourself", I was specifically referring to the fact that a minimum duty applies REGARDLESS to the exemption on cigarettes, tobacco sticks, and manufactured tobacco.
