how long will the embassy hold passport?

To all seniors,

Any idea as to how long the Canadian Embassy in Abu Dhabi will hold applicant's passport? I called up the courier and they said they did not receive it yet from the Embassy as it has prepaid airway bill attached. I sent it out on November 23 and received by their office on November 24. So it has been 22 days already. I'm worried.
