How long will I wait between my citizenship test and the ceremony?

The citizenship test status was updated to “Completed” on Sep 28, 2022, but everything except for the citizenship test and background is still “In progress”.
My husband who applied on the same day became a citizen in February 2023.

My last name officially changed before applying for citizenship. I did not ask to change the name on this application but I wonder if the name change is the reason for the delay. Does anyone have experienced a delay after the test?

I emailed the Vancouver office but no reply.
Are there any other ways to contact the office?

Thank you!

If your name changed before citizenship application, did you clearly mention that in the application? Name change could be the reason for extended (secondary) background checks. Local office does not do the background checks so they will not be able to help you. You need to call IRCC but they will not be able to comment on RCMP and CSIS background checks. You will have to wait it out. The official timeline for Citizenship grant is 23 months so it is on track as per their timelines.

Thank you for your reply. I became PR in 2013 and got married in 2014 back home and officially changed my last name (driver's licence, SIN, PR card, CRA, etc) in Canada by 2018. Since I have already changed my name on the PR card, IRCC has all the documents for the name change. I used my current name in my application, so I was not sure why I received AOR with my maiden name. I mentioned my maiden name as that was the name when I became PR. I did not ask to change my name with this application because I already changed it. I did not receive any requests for additional documents or interviews, etc from them. Nothing is happening for 6 months after taking a test. My PR card is expiring in August so I don't know if I should renew it ...

Ok. My bad. I re-read your question again. I think I misunderstood your initial post. Did you say that Citizenship and BG is complete and everything else is in progress? That means your LPP is in progress. Correct?

Can you please post your entire timeline here please and I will let you know if you are on track. I don't know if you applied 5 months ago or a year ago. Thanks.

So if you're LPP is in progress, then yes, your file is in the local office - The same one that sent you the test invite. Again, you can try and call IRCC or the local office but they will not respond to you with anything helpful till 23 months has passed. The only exception I have seen is if your LPP is complete, (decision made on ECAS) and then a few months have passed and your oath has not been scheduled, some people have had success mailing the local office asking for the Oath to be scheduled. It doesnt always work but it has in some cases. However, if your LPP is still in progress, that means they have not yet made a decision on your application and you have no option but to wait it out. Also replies from local offices take time - 30 days+ and they dont usually say anything except your application is in progress ( if you have not finished 23 months). Thanks.

Also everyones timelines are different. It may not have anything to do with your name change. Please look for threads on this forum where people who applied together in the same month have a common thread. You can also put your name on the tracker so you can see others timelines too. There are people who applied on the same day I did who have already reached DM and I am yet to reach that stage. Everyones timeline is different and there is nothing to be done but wait.

Hi Johnsyk

Dec 19, 2021 - Online Application sent
Feb 21, 2022 - AOL
Aug 25, 2022 - Background Completed
Sep 28, 2022 - Citizenship Test Completed (got 20/20)

No update for more than 6 months since then.

I became PR in 2013 and renewed my PR in 2018 and changed my last name. My current PR has a married name so I did not need to change my name in the citizenship application. However, their correspondence is with my maiden name. Everything has been changed to my married name so of course, I used my married name in this application so that was a yellow flag for me. Now I am non-routine as I do not hear for more than 6 months after passing a test.

There is no complication other than my name.
(for language) I immigrated as Canadian Experience Class and have a certificate and diploma from a Canadian post-secondary school.
(for physical presence) I was out of Canada only 5 days in the previous 5 years. I never left Canada since 2017.
(for prohibition) no criminal record

Where can I find the tracker on this site?

I am getting anxious since no responses/requests for interviews, test retakes or any additional documents.

Thank you so much for your comments!
