How long will I get PGWP

Hello, I'm International student
I'm admitted for Master of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering. The program takes 21 months but It's consisting of 13 months of studying and 8 months of Co-op Program.

My question is
How long will I get PGWP ? 13 months or 21 months

Actually, I'd sent email to my institute and They'd replied that "The current immigration policy is that students who complete a Canadian Masters Degree can apply for a 2-3 year post- graduate work permit".
I'm surprised that why I can apply for a 2-3 year post because my program takes only 21 months.
Finally, How long will I get PGWP ? 13 months or 21 months or 2-3 year as they replied.

The current policy of 2-3 years of PGWP is for those whose program does not include Co-op Program. Meaning they have at least 24 months of Full-time graduate studies. Considering your case, I believe you would receive minimum 13 months because it is the time where you were physically attending school and not working but I doubt the officer would extend it beyond that.

Where did you read this policy given a coop program if an integrated part of a program is of course generally a prerequisite to graduate from a program and maybe the only exception being whether it is continuous education plus coop or a gap between.

There is a special discretionary rule for masters as well that supports a possible 3 year PGWP, see footnote at bottom this page link.

Also note to the OP nobody applies for or requests a specific PGWP term, that is at the discretion of the VO and what evidence presented in terms of program length and successful graduation. In any case getting a PGWP should not really be the primary driver to gaining a qualification in Canada.
