We need to know what you are waiting for, passport request? aor? what is it really?
Anyway if what you are waiting for is passport request then probably they are doing some background checks on your profile which is a normal thing. This takes between 4-6 months so they should be requesting for your passport very soon.

I am thinking of applying for Immigrant visa at the Ghana office of the Canadian Embassy. Does any one know what docs they might ask for later (so that I can start getting them ready)? Besides, I want to send my application via courier to Accra. Is it allowed? The postal system in my country is not very trustworthy.

Am waiting for passport request.I hope this backgrd checks wont go beyond 6 months cos i read that someone got passport request just 45 days before his medical expired.I have sent mails to accra to confirm the staus of my application but they never replied any of the mails,it is very frustrating when you are in this kind of situation.What is the status of your application,yemkik.soj

I would rather not use someone else's case to judge mine since forms are filled differently, some people maybe lucky the background checks may last only 45-60 days for others it might be much longer, but I assure you there is nothing to worry about it will surely come.
I would advise you to stop pestering the CHC Accra with e-mails. If you write once and they don't reply just leave everything to God. I read somewhere in those websites that persistent e-mails from you to them only prolong your case.
About my application, mine is still in 'progress' status. I applied in 2004 so I still have to wait much longer than you.........

Tonni thats fine you can proceed with sending your documents via courier. To warn you from Ghana it takes 5 years???
martha Marita are you really sure ghana takes 5yrs before the visa is given. a friend applied since 2001 august and she's still on it . How about that?
On the cic site it show at least 30% of application times is 61 months, 50% takes 63 months, 70 % takes 66 months and rest 71 months. Has your friend had medical examination yet? I cant advise beyond this but it would worth your friend contact the cic to check on as it seem 71 months has passed and couple of 2- 3 months the expected time as the cic is required to process her application. I hope she has been in constant communication with the cic for file to be active????

thanks. ma friend still went to the chc in febuary before having her medicals in april. but do you have to keep checking on them before they process your application?

I know it could sound like a nag but if they do not go by their time frame its good to keep on checking. And I know the chc they are very good to reply you. They would not reply if at all the the time frame has not exceeded, that i am sure. I wish your friend good luck. Just know that different cases are dealt with different it depends how straight forward or complecated your case is for them.
