hi Everyone
I am brand new to this forum, and the topic.
Just starting to gather some information. Any information will be very helpful for me.

I am trying to apply the residency so I can work freely in the country.
I am wondering, from after I send out the application until I can work freely (either received Permanent resident card or work permit)
1. anyone know how long the wait might be now?

2.Will I be able to wait in the country without a visa after I send out the application? or I have to have a valid working visa?

3. Which will be faster? Apply as a family or single.

4. If this is not too much to ask, I just want to double check with my qualification. What will make me qualified to apply as a Skilled Worker?

thank you for any feedback

Hi Cindy,

1. The wait time depends on which office you apply to, whether you include all necessary documents early on, and whether the visa office wants an interview. So it's difficult to estimate the wait time.
2. No, you can't wait in the country without a visa.
3. There's no difference if you apply as a family or single, but you may get more points if you apply along with your spouse.
4. Skilled workers are evaluated on education, experience, language skills, age, and adaptability.

Here's a link to canadavisa's assessment form. They'll give you a free evaluation.
