My wife got DM on December 24, 2012. Since then we have been waiting for the COPR to arrive at our home in Canada. Each day we wait for the mail carrier only to be disappointed. How long should we wait before we contact our VO? How long did it take for you to get your COPR sent to you from your VO to your home in Canada? Should I be worried? I know Canada Post is horrible, but we are starting to go crazy.

Also: Someone from our VO (Vienna) who got DM the same day we did, has had their COPR for a week now. We only live 2 hours apart.

it depends on where you live in Canada... from London VO ( not too far from Vienna in the sense that European posts should be more or less equivalent!), it took somewhere from 1 weeks to 2 and a half.... but in your case, with Christmas and New year, the post is probably a bit overwhelmed, and there are some delays... so maybe give it another week and then contact Vienna, I think it's a bit early to worry... ( but of course I understand it!)
Good luck,
Sweden

Keep in mind also that the "DM" status doesn't always pop up online the actual day a decision is made. In our case, we got DM and then the COPR came around 1 week later. However the date on the COPR was actually 1 week earlier then the DM status... meaning the COPR was sent out earlier but they just took their time updating the website.

So your friend may have gotten their approval and had COPR mailed out a week or so before yours, but the Vienna visa office just decided to do DM updates all on the same day.

Also as Sweden said... consider extra mail delivery time over the holidays. I would give them a call if you hit the 3 week mark with nothing.

My CoPR had been issued before the eCAS changed to DM. But the precious paper had been sitting in Manila for about 2 weeks before it was picked up by DHL. But you will be receiving it soon :). In our case, VO told me that it will be couriered, not on a regular mail, as this is very important document.

Thanks for all the input everyone!!

I "only" live in Ottawa Sweden, so no backwoods location here ;)

On Monday it will be 3 weeks. I guess I will see how next week goes and then contact them on Friday if it still hasn't come.

Did your COPR come with Canada Post, or someone else? I assume it is sent registered mail, but that doesn't always mean courier.

It came by normal Canada post, and I don't even think that it was registered - it was delivered to our neighbors ( not because we asked for it, because the post made a mistake...), but that's London VO - each VO has a different way...
Good luck,
Sweden

sabaniga, the person who got DM on same day like you and who has his visa for 1 week probably got DM earlier, maybe it just showed later in his case, because post from Vienna to Canada needs 10 days at least. Don't forget the holidays in between, it takes longer because of that. You should receive the letter next week. Or maybe tomorrow.
