How long is the stay

Just to make sure. I am from a visa exempt country and landed here. I put that I was stating approx 4 months on the paper they give you. I was put through a extra random security check up when entering. Anyhow, even though I put I would be here 4 months, I wasn't stamped. So am I allowed the 6 month stay?
