How long is foreign skilled work experience?

Hello, folks!

I have a question regarding how to calculate the foreign work experience.

On the CRS calculator page, it says:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ii. In the last 10 years, how many total years of foreign skilled work experience do you have?

It must have been paid, full-time (or an equal amount in part-time), and in only one occupation (NOC skill type 0, A or B).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Does it mean that the ONE longest job the applicant worked at a single post under the same employer?

In the past 10 years, I've worked 3 different positions at 3 different employers.

a) 2 years and 10 months as a translator (NOC 5125, type A)
b) 1 year as an administrative services co-ordinator (NOC 1221, type B)
c) 6 months as the same

In this case, I can only claim that I have only more than 2 years of experience (a) and the other two work experiences (b & c) will be discredited?

I try to find the right information but it is stated nowhere :(
Does anybody know a clear answer to this query?

Thank you!

I think you can add as many as you want.
One with 2 years
One with 1 year
Will make 3 years worth.

You must have worked under one NOC for atleast one year to be eligible for points against it.

Also, let others have their say too.

I think you need one continuous year in one job in one NOC to qualify for FSW, but for calculating your total number of years of foreign work experience, all work in Types 0/A/B over the past ten years counts.

In your case, you would be eligible to apply through EE under NOC 5125 or 1221, and you would be able to claim three years of foreign work experience.

For me, I have
  • NOC 4031 - one year
  • NOC 4011 - one year equivalence
  • NOC 4011 - ten months
  • NOC 4031 - one year and counting
and the system gave me 50 points for foreign work experience. If it only counts for my claimed NOC, I should only have received 25 points, no matter which NOC I chose, right?

sphng, thank you so much.
Cause I thought it should be only a single longest job (the description is tricky on the EE page). And in that case, I'm outright ineligible because I'd lose so many points.

Your hard example is a clear reference to how they calculate it so I'm relieved. Thank you!

hey rajapanesar thank you!
It's interesting to see how the whole process works with the detailed timeline.
But for me, your profile looks so powerful. Canada will work out every possible way to take you as soon as possible!

Have a good day :)

@rajapanesar,
I meant not the fact that you've got a signature, but the details of yours.

EXP - 5 years (oh cool!)
NOC 0 (wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
461 (if both of us get ECA masters) (!!!!)
Spouse ECA - Master's (!!!!!!!!@#$@$*#@)

Canadian system has a huge crush and opens the door to the couple.
Mission completed lol
