Hi,

I want to know how long does it take to process permanent residency immigration from Pakistan (Islamabad) for Canada.

Also i have calculated my points to be around 59 and i am in need of points. Please let me know how to improve my points.

I have 9 years of expereince in Software industry and working as project manager with a software house

for the the time frame from Islamabad, i have no idea but it's going to depend on the type of program you'll choose (skilled worker, pnp or...) go look at their site to get some idea about that (www.cic.gc.ca)

they asked for at least 67 points and you're saying that you've calculated yours and got 59!
to improve that score (i'm not sure about what you have to prove that 59) you'll have :
1-language certificate ( english and or frensh )
2-providing an employment certificate from canada
3-prove of relatives in canada

there is so many other things and if you go throughout the site i promise you'll find the way to do so but you can still sieek advices from other members of this forum.

good luck

check this . however, it says it takes between 65-70 months.
i am surprised u said u have 9years work experience and have only 59points.
if u have a degree, u should earn about 20points, plus 21 for work experience, 10 for age,16 for english test and 8 for french test.
assuming u dnt have knowledge of french, u still have 67 points . so if u want to increase your points, u can learn basic french which give u an additional of 2 points if u know the basic plus if u have relatives in canada, u dnt need the french since u can claim additional 5 points.
i also think u can earn additional points if your spouse has degree or diploma.
anyways better perform the test and have a knowledge.
the link for the self assessment is here :

hope it helps.

you are right and doing the language test better will give me extra points. i will score full points as

- A two-year university degree at the Bachelor's level AND at least 14 years of full-time or full-time equivalent study 20
- Language IELTS test 5.5 so i will score 8 here
- Age 10
- 4+ yeares of experience 21

i think i will score 22 in education becuase with 14 years of formal education i have 1 year diploma in computer sciences so that makes max 61

so the only way forward for me is to improve IELTS to 16
or find a arranged employment

any suggestion to find arranged employment in canada. BTW this year i got my name in H1B visa for USA so will be in USA at the end of this year.

so on more question can i transfer my case from pakistan to USA because may be i will be in USA when my date come for evaluation.\

nice to hear you will be going to USA.
no, it doesnt help to get points for arrange employment.
the employment needs to be approved by the HRDC canada.
since u ll be in HB1 visa, i think u can contact campbell cohen as they have a section where it says alberta can accept u without job offer if u are on a HB1 visa.
also, if u ll be legally admitted in USA for one year, then u can apply to the buffalo office.
if i were u, i would contact the campbell cohen to check that alberta immigration regarding HB1.
take care and god bless :)
