Dear all,

My single tourist visa was granted in Bangkok, Thailand on 07/OCT/2010. The visa sticker in my passport shows its expiry date as 30/DEC/2010. I entered to Vancouver, Canada on 01/NOV/2010. The immigration officer at the port of entry only stamped the date I arrived into my passport.

I've been very confused when someone told me if there is no stamp the length of stay by the officer, it means I can stay in Canada automatically 6 months from the date of arrival. Is this a correct information?I've been worried of this because my visa labeled by the embassy in Bangkok will be expired on 30/DEC/2010.

Please kindly let me know how long exactly I am allowed to stay in Canada.

All the best,

You're allowed to stay for 6 months from the date you arrived. The expiration date is the date by which you can last use your visa but you already used it.
