How long does it take for CIC to acknowledge they received your application?

How long does it take for CIC to acknowledge they received your application and put it in the system?

I sent my application by courier and got notification that it was received by CIC in Sydney.

So how long would it take before it's in the system and I can start tracking within CIC's system?

around 2 to 3 months for most. you will probably get an update on e-cas before you get the AOR letter.

Chakrab is right. It used to be longer in 2011 and 2012 but the trend from mid-2013 is now about 2-3 months from receipt by CIC Sydney.

In fact, applications of 2014 appears CIC putting into their system in most cases within 60 days (+/-) as things are moving fast now to eliminate backlog by 2016..

So my next question is....... if the application is sitting in the mailroom somewhere for 2-3 months from now, not entered into the system, and C-24 passes - do you think the application would be applied under the old laws or the new laws?

it is not sitting in the mail room per se. it will be recorded, given a file number, verify payment, documents checked if complete and only then it will be put "in process".

Any complete application received by CIC even the day before the new rule comes into effect, will be processed under current law. It does not matter if the application is sitting in the Q for 2 month or so..
