How long does it take CIC to confirm application has been submitted?

Hi there
I applied to sponsor my common law partner about a month ago, out of country. I tracked the package and know it was received by CIC but have not gotten any sort of confirmation from them. At what point in the application process do you usually first hear from them? I know it can take up to a year to be reviewed, but surely you get some sort of confirmation that they received your application?

Is there any way to get your case number? Or do you need to wait until they give it to you?

Can take 12 weeks, sometimes more. It's called AOR, acknowledgment of receipt. You have to wait until you receive it.
